WINNER SELECTION
How to be considered
Conducted with the oversight of the SPARC Awards Committee, the process for recognizing these manufactures is structured to take minimal commitment on the part of the participating retailer companies. Based on a total of 54 product categories, each retailer only votes on the product category that is merchandised in his/her store.
Winners are chosen by a stringent process of retailer balloting. Nominations for top supplier are made by the department buyers at the leading mass, specialty, dollar, food and warehouse club chains across the country. Two suppliers per category are then selected based on rankings by each retailer's general merchandise manager(s).
Here is how the process works:
1) A first round of ballots, distributed early in the first quarter, are sent to committee members who forward them to their respective buyers.
2) Once completed, the committee members return the ballots to the SPARC staff
3) A second wave of ballots are then sent out to the DMM level, at which time retailers also vote for the Vendor of the Year (both softlines and hardlines)
4) Ballots are collected and a first place (SPARC winner) and a runner up (Silver Circle winner) are decided per category.
5) Winners are announced and all awards are presented at the Annual SPARC Awards program. |
